When choosing your holiday one of the first things to decide is which tasting level you prefer.

Beginner/intermediate is for those who enjoy wine but do not have a great deal of previous knowledge. We will look at different grape varieties from around the world, as this is the simplest way of classifying the fascinating range of flavours you find in wine.
We will also discuss cellaring and serving wine as well as which wines work best with which food (and what to avoid when you want to enjoy your best bottles).

Intermediate/advanced is for those who have a good understanding of wine and are keen to deepen their knowledge. Each tasting will have a theme: for instance 'Luscious whites: can they thrill without noble rot ?' Apart from enjoying the wines we will be looking at underlying themes such as what makes a wine balanced or the fashion for oak. At the end of the course you will have a fuller understanding of which characteristics are determined by nature and which can be influenced by the wine-maker.

Importantly, the tastings will all be relaxed yet informative.
