| Thursday |
Leave Stansted mid-morning; arrive Pau early afternoon. After the tasting, there will be a cup of tea in the drawing room before leaving for your hotel, where you will have time to unpack and relax. We will meet before dinner, to compare a couple of champagnes. |
| Friday |
You can have a leisurely breakfast in your hotel, after which we will visit an excellent local vineyard such as Domaine de Cabidos. It has recently been replanted and is producing superb dry and sweet white wine. Lunch will be in a local auberge. You might try delicious
home-grown duck, grilled on an open fire. In the evening, you can choose to dine in a one rosette restaurant 'Pain Adour et Fantaisie' or in Michel Guérard's famed 3 rosette restaurant 'Les Prés d'Eugénie'. |
| Saturday |
This morning, there will be a tasting of 8 red wines, either with pairs of grape varieties for Level 1 or a theme for level 2. There will be plenty of time for any questions you want to ask and I can organise a short, light-hearted quiz. You can have a light lunch at the airport and buy your foie gras and wine (a good selection, guaranteed to be at the same price as at the vineyard). Your flight leaves early afternoon for Stansted. |
